Choosing of the Soldier

I was going through a period in my life when the Lord was speaking to me a lot about spiritual warfare – our fight is not against flesh and blood, but power and principalities – in prayer and intercession I wanted to do a piece of sculpture that would in some way portray that idea of spiritual warfare. The idea came of the standard the Lord had given to Gideon in choosing of the 300 soldiers that he would use to defeat an enemy of Israel. The number of soldiers was small so that there would be no doubt that the Lord was in control, but nevertheless there was a standard or test that the lord gave Gideon for choosing his men, which was the way they drank water after a long march.
